Olde English Bulldogge

Question
I will be (finally!) getting my Olde English Bulldogge pup (male) in late October. I plan on crate training and I've read the following books: Parenting Your Dog, My Smart Puppy: Fun, Effective, and Easy Puppy Training (with DVD), Bulldogs for Dummies, and Bulldogs: A Complete Owner's Manual... I have also tried to do as much of my own research about OEBs (online & in book stores) but keep coming up with the same few sites and no books (on them specifically).

I want to be prepared and I know that all of the reading in the world can't completely prepare you for a OEB pup's individual personality.... But I can't seem to really find any solid information on their general temperaments/activity levels/common behavioral problems and so on. I know every bit of information about the history of the breed.. but their's nothing really substantial on the other things (general temperaments/activity levels/common behavioral problems and so on.

Could you give me that sort of insight on OEBs and if so, could you also tell me how much different from EBs they are (aside from the health issues)?

Answer
OEBs are great dogs. Athletic but not generally hyper. Usually 20 minutes of exercise a couple of times a day is plenty to keep them happy. They are 100% healthier than the modern AKC Bulldog, but again, not perfect.  They do have hip problems and skin problems on occasion.  They are very trainable and enjoy working for you.

Get the book The Monks of New Skete. It's great.
