Question
Hello, my wife and i are considering looking for an ebd as our 1st dog. just wondering about this breed, what kind of ?'s should i be asking the breeders?  are they an expensive dog to maintain?  what are the main problems you can expect if we do decide to go with an ebd?  we have an older home without central air in MN. is that going to be a problem during the summer mouths.  I know puppies will be puppies but are they destructive to furniture and other things inside?  sorry so many ?'s but we are trying to learn as much as we can b-4 we make up our minds!!!  thanks, Lee

Answer
You should ask any breeder for a veterinarian reference. If they don't want to give you contact info for their vet, run. Yes, they can be expensive to maintain depending on where you are in the country.  Here, entropion surgery costs me $80. In CT the same surgery costs $800. So, it all depends.

I don't have air conditioning in my house. Usually fans are enough to keep the dogs comfortable. I crate train all my puppies and dogs so we don't have destructive behavior at all. This is the only way to raise a puppy actually. I suggest taking any puppy to obedience classes when it's old enough. Even Bulldogs can learn something from these social settings.
