Dirty Coat Smelly AB

Hi my AB Samson is 4 yrs. old and his coat is always dirty. He will stay clean for about a day after a bath but then his coat feels oily and the dirt just clings to it. He also has a very doggy smell to him. He has been on Premium Edge Skin and Coat food since he was a puppy. Can you help?

Hi Alisha, Well the food you are giving Samson is ok: here are the ingredients:

NOT BAD as far as commercial dog food brands, go...
There are better but I think you can keep him on this.

NOW, the smell and coat problem...

I would give him a bath in Head And Shoulders Shampoo/ the one for humans... do this ever 2 weeks for about 4 times.  This should regulate his coat.  YOU may be able to go back to regular dog shampoo after 4 Washings of the Head and Shoulders...
A good Doggie Oatmeal shampoo is always good...

NOW, I would like to see you start him on some Vitamin E - give just 1 of the 200 IU pills per day - hide in food or cheese:
