Jason, As I emntioned earlier, I have come up empty on cat breeds and cat clubs in the West Indies or the Caribean!

There is a Chinese White and a Dragon-Li,  pictures can be found at:

http://members.shaw.ca/bjbelanger/China.htm

Chinese Harelquins are a USA created breed that is supposed to look like Chinese cats pictured on Chinese paintings, silk screens, and lithographs.  I would not think there would be any in China.

Yes there are Siamese in China.

Best regards... Norm.

Hello:

Thank you for responding. I have two more inquiries for you:
Are bobtails found in China, and in other countries in Asia outside of Japan?
What cat breeds are kept as pets and/or employed in all branches of the military?
Please let me know. Thank you again.

Sincerely,
Jason Goldman

Answer -
Jason,

I do not know if bobtails are found in China per se, but, since there are many different types of bobtails found in Russia and Japan, it stands to reason that there would be bobtailed cats in China.  If not now, then the Chinese will import them as they have a growing cat fancy and are interested in all breeds.

I already answered the question on the military in a previous response.  That response also talked about special rules for millitary personell who want to take their pets overseas. All breeds are kept as pets.  I know of no cats who are employed by the military for anything, but that is an interesting question.  If I run into anything, I will let you know.

Best regards... Norm.

Hello Norman:

Thank you for responding. I have some more cat breed questions for you:

Are Simaese cats found in Japan, Korea, and other Asian countries outside of China?
When I typed "Chinese Crested", I meant "Chinese White". Do you have any further information about this breed other than the link you provided?
I read somewhere that Japanese Bobtails may have origianted in China or Korea-is there any validity in that?
Do you know if Chinese Bobtails are found in China?
Are there any other Japanese cat breed besides the Japanese Bobtails?
Are there any Korean Cat breeds?
IS the Scottish Wildcat an actual caqt bree, and are there any other Scottish Cat breeds besides the Scottish Longhair and Shorthair? Please let me know. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jason Goldman

Answer -
Jason,

Virtually all pedigreed cat breeds are now found in China (including Hong Kong and Beijing), as they now have cat shows over there and CFA has sanctioned a few of these.

So, although I have not heard that Japanese bobtails originated in China (which is possible), there are bobtailed cats in the far eastern areas of Russia and much of Asia around China, Korea, and Japan.  Thus it is hard to know exactly where bobtailed cats originated.  Also, I doubt that any cat breeds originated in Korea per se, but probably migrtaed from China or Japan (or both).

The Scottish Wildcat is an entirely different species (although they have been known to cross breed with domestic cats).  The only truly Scottish brered I know of is the Scottish Fold whgich comes in both Longhair and Shorthair varieties.

Best regards.. Norm.

Hello Norm:

Thank you for responding. I don't know if received the last query for you, but are Japanese Bobtails found in China? Please let me know. Thank you.

Sincerely,
Mr. Jason Goldman

Answer
Jason,

It is a fair assumption that all know breeds of domestic cats are found in Hong Kong and if not yet on the mainland, they soon will be, as the Chinese cat fancy is growing quickly!!!!!

Thus, Japanese bobtails are found in Hong Kong and are, most probably, already in Beijing.

Best regards... Norm.
