Question
my cat is a full bred Maine Coon i just found out thoght i could just feed him what I normally feed a cat. Ive raised cats all my life Now Ive got a huge cat whom i love very much come to find out he has diabetes Most of my family is diabetic little did I know that my cat would become diabetic to he is on special diet from vet D/M food both dry
and moist he was happy with it now he snubs his nose at it. He is on insulin but I can't give him insulin unless he eats
vet told me I need to do what ever it takes to get him to eat so I can give him the shot What kind of diet good for Maine Coons that will help with blood sugar and he will quit being so picky

Answer
Leah,

Remember, I am not a vet!

There are things you can do to help your cat appreciate the food.  Some tricks are to:

Mix some strained meat baby food (only ingredients should be strained meat and broth or gravy, no added salt, sugar or onion) in with the food.

Get Tuna packed in oil and stir some of the oil in with the food.

Get a pouch or tuna or salmon or chicken or turkey and see if he will eat the food with some of that mixed in.

You can check with your vet, but a high protein diet should be good.  You can see if your vet will go over ingredients with you to make sure there is nothing in there that will increase his blood sugar.

Best regards... Norm.
