Wet food

Question
Not too long ago my mom and I bought a cat and unfortunately, the crunchies we bought him were too big for his little mouth so we bought him wet food while we searched for crunchies small enough for his mouth.
Now that we have found a good brand with small enough pieces, he keeps begging for the wet food. I have been trying to wean him off slowly (by only giving him two pouches a day then lowering that one then to once in a while). However, my mom thwarts all attempts I make by giving in every time he bitches. She doesn't believe that when he gets hungry, he'll eat the crunchies. What can I do to help wean our kitty when my mom is such a soft touch?

Answer
Megan,

Another approach is to mix the wet food and the crunchies. You can, eventually get him on to the crunchies.  However, we avoid a diet of all crunchies as there are definite drawbacks.  So keeping him on a mixed wet food and crunchy diet may be best in the long run. You can leave some crunchies down for him, but I would not stop giving him the wet food, totally.

Best regards... Norm.
