Aggressive Behavior in Male Cat

16:18:39

Question
We got a male kitten 6 months ago to keep our 2 yr old female cat company.  In general they get along fine.  However, I notice lately that the male cat gets very aggressive when playing with the female, chasing and cornering her sometimes, and the female cat has taken to growling, hissing and batting at the male cat when he gets over-aggressive.  Although they are still getting along well in general, I'm concerned that the male cat will get more aggressive as he gets older (he's about 9-months old right now).  Is this typical behavior and will he calm down as he gets older?  If not what can I do to deal with the problem now so it doesn't get out of hand later?  Thanks in advance for your help.

Answer
Samantha,

I'll bet your male kitten is not neutered.  This is heavy breeding season and his hormones may be over active.

If he is not neutered, I would have him done immediately and, in a few weeks he should calm down.

If he is neutered, then there may be other things to consider.

Please let me know if he is neutered or not?

Best regards... Norm.
