Question
my question is we have a female cat and she just wont settle. she howls constantly doesn't want any contact with us just wants to come in eat the leave. then she spends the day scratching the door and running away when you go to let her in. she is a rescue kitty, as are our other 2 kitties who are male but are well settled affectionate to each other and us. she doesn't like either of them, she used to be as friendly as the other two now she growls if you cuddle her. she has been checked by a vet he could not find anything physically wrong.

Answer
Hi Helen!
With time and patience and lots of TLC, she will probably get better but she may never be as affectionate at your other cats. Some kittens that never get the TLC in the beginning stay in a kind of wild state. There are many that will adapt, but this kitty may not.  Has she been spayed? If not, be sure and do so. She may be acting this way because she is in heat. If she has been spayed, then I guess it is her temperament.  Don't give up on her. She just needs some time and patience.
God Bless,
Becky
