Question
QUESTION: Hi Ali, How are you?
My cat just delivered 4 days back, she hasn't pass stol since then, she is also not eating well, I'm giving her water by syringes and I,m feeding her (Troy) nutritive paste by syringe also.

My question is, any home remedy can help, any oil, honey or anything at home? I don't want to give her medicine,

Please Help as soon as possible,
Thanks a lot

ANSWER: Fayza,

If your cat is not eating well and not passing stool and you are force feeding water and a nutritional supplement you need to take her to the veterinarian or you could lose her or the babies or both. I know that you don't want to give her medication, but you need to understand that it is possible she has retained a kitten inside or that she may have some sort of infection in her uterus. It sounds as if she is seriously ill, this is not the time to be looking for home remedies. Please take your cat to the vet so that she can be treated for what is bothering her, because obviously something is very wrong for her to not be eating, drinking or using the bathroom voluntarily. Please do not delay in getting this mom and babies the medical treatment that they sound like they desperately need. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me again.

QUESTION: I called her vet, he told me not to worry, because she must be depressed as all her kittens were born dead. he said it's normal and that she will get over it in few days.
to me she doesn't look ill, but I'm really confused and concerned. what should I do??

Answer
Fayza,

If you are concerned seek a second opinion. Take your cat to the vet to be sure that she hasn't retained kittens or afterbirth. She would benefit from a complete physical examination by a veterinarian. Trust your instincts, if you think that all is not well then you are probably right, you know your cat best. Please do not hesitate to contact me again with further questions or concerns, but please bear in mind I am not a vet and can't help with medical concerns. Your cat really should see a vet to rule out anything medical.
