Feral Kitten Taming/Behavior Problems

Question
We adopted an abandoned 3-4 wk old (?) feral kitten from our
woodpile last month, and are wondering if he is too agressive with
us and our 2 year old son. We have been holding him as much as
possible, but after a month with us he still does not like to be held
- bites, scratches etc.. We never leave him unattended with our 2
year old (for both's safety) but are worried when the kitten attacks
our son's face & bites him. We love the kitten, but are considering a
new cat if this behavior does not drastically improve. What can we
do to tame this little beastie?

Answer
Give hime a chance. He is still young enough to change. It is possible you are holding him TOO MUCH. Try reading this article about cat agression and you'll see what I mean:

Give him a little space and let him come to you. keeping hime from the baby for a while is fine but do let him see the baby and know he's a member of the family so kitty learns to love him too. It is not strange for a kitten foundling to behanve this way. Remember kittens are domesticated by socialization each and every case. They are NEVER born domesticated; they learn it. If their mom is a pet, they learn from her but if they are bown feral, they are wild born. ut he is young enough to come around. I have done it many times.
