Question
my sons cat has a indentation on her tail and bites it off and on..I told him to see the vet, but he says she doesn't do it all the time...what could it be??

Answer
Hi Debbie,

Has the cat always had this indentation or is it something recent?  If she's always had it then it must be a birth defect but if its something new it must have been an injury.  Either way she may be feeling some strange sensations in it and is investigating and even trying to alleviate these feelings.  As long as she's not injuring herself by biting the tail raw I wouldn't worry about it, but if she starts pulling out hair or you see it bleeding you might want to take her to a vet for consultation.
