Question
hi i just helped my cat have kittens, she only had two and one was dead at birth. i have her in a room byherlsef with the kitten. i am wondering when is it ok to let just her out of the room to vist with the other cats and our family. i know enough to keep everyone away from the kitten but what about letting the mother out of the room? thanks

Answer
Kerri,

The problem with letting the mother out of the room, is that she may decide to move the kitten somewhere, where you may have trouble finding it.  Wait until the kitten is weaned and then mother and kitten can both leave the room.  You can begin weaning the kitten between the ages of 4 and 6 weeks.  Until then, mama will be much happier with her kitten and no one else around.

Best regards... Norm.
