Is there anything special that I should put on the cloth? I already know that actual bathing is out, but wiping with cloth is possible as she loves to be petted.
Question -
Hi, I have what the vet calls an albino cat, she is approx. 7 years old. Evey couple of months or so she start loosing the hair on her stomach and inside of rear legs and down her tail. She also loses patches on her neck. We take her to the vet and they give her a shot of something which clears up the situation. Sometimes her neck feels warm. What I want to know is how to prevent this from happening all together and or treat it myself. Vets says this is quite comman for this type of cat. Can you help. Thanks
Answer -
This is most likely an allergic skin disease.  The vet is probably giving a long acting steroid to calm the skin.  Bathing the cat helps.  You can just wipe off the fur with a damp washcloth 2-3 times a week.

Answer
Just water is fine.  You are trying to remove surface antigens like pollens and molds from the skin.  There are some pre-packaged wet wipes available to do this.  They are like baby wipes.  Check out www.dermapet.com and look for their Malacetic Wipes.
