Question
I received your answer but am puzzled....Guess I did not give you enough information...Bo had a bad reaction to a Steroid shot  so high doses of steroids would not be good...The ANEMIA is a great concern..his blood work was GOOD the week before and then I'm told he has extreme anemia the next week..that would seem impossible to me...would not the bloodwork up show cancer or Lymphoma that you suggested might be a problem....he was treated for the tick fever and apparently no longer had it, but a second bout I guess is possible.....Would PREDNISON & ANTIBIOTICS combination weaken the immune system? Also do not understand why the lasix does not remove the fluid...  This is very important to me and I appreciate your suggestions...please do not bump me with an answer of See your local Vet...I have........Thank You

Answer
I didn't answer your first question with SEE YOUR VET, so I would appreciate a little more respect than those comments.  This is a free service, and I am donating my time to help others....

If his body is killing his own blood cells, which is very likely, then he needs to have his immune system suppressed.  Normally, steroids (prednisone) are the treatment of choice.  If they do not work, then other immunosuppressives are used but they have more side effects and can be very hard on the system.  When you say REACTION to steroid shot, I don't know what you mean.  Typically they will eat more, drink more, urinate more and pant...this is normal and not a reaction.  Steroids are used to treat allergic reactions.

The lasix is generally used for fluid in the lungs and does not usually work that well for fluid in the abdomen as it is my guess that he probably has a tumor somewhere in his abdomen.

Blood work doesn't show cancer unless the have leukemia, which is very rare in dogs, or abnormalities in the blood cells.  Again, he should have a reticulyte count to see whether he has a regenerative or non-regenerative anemia.

The best combination at this point, in my opinion, would be prednisone and doxycycline to see how he responds.
