Question
I have a 11 month old Siberian Husky who doesnt seem to be gaining any weight....or getting any taller for that matter.
She doesnt even look like she's almost a year old.
We recently moved to New Mexico and I dont know of any good vets....but I'm worried that she may not eating right.  What would you suggest?
Thanks.

Answer
Well I don't know what you have been feeding her but you have to remember that feeding a puppy is building the foundation for that dog's life for the next 13-15 years.
So a high quality, trusted and tested brand of food is what you want to feed her.
I recommend Science Diet because I have seen the results of feeding it to our clients dogs and my own pets for over 30 years. I have never seen another food out there do what it does.
SD has over 50 yrs of veterinary research put into it, a claim no other food has.
I have seen dogs thrive on it that were barely getting by.
Your dog could also have some genetic issues that you can't do much about, such as being a shorter version in the litter or being a runt.
First of all, how thin is she? Is she spayed? Is she very active? Is she purebred and do you have the papers?
Were her parents screened and tested for genetic diseases?
These are things you need to take into consideration.
If she is on any other food, I would get some SD and slowly wean her onto it. If she is extremely active get her some puppy food for a few months then put her on the adult or the adult active, for very active or hunting dogs.
If she isn't spayed, get her spayed. Hormones keep them thin.If you aren't breeding her, and I don't think if she is having these issues she should be used for breeding, then spaying her is the healthiest thing you can do for her.
So let me know some of these answers and then I would have more suggestions for you.
