Ear clippings for dogs

Question
I have a 3 mo. old pit bull. Everyone is suggesting I get his ears clipped. While I do want him to look nice & neat,if it poses any serious health risks I won't give it a second thought. Could you please help me in discussing the pros & cons of getting his ears clipped? Thanks for your time.

Con- he looks like a pit bull, and will hold an aggressive stigma to him.

it hurts
its messy
it can be lopsided
it can be clipped too short or too narrow
it hurts
the dog does not care if he likes it or not
people think you fight the dog
it can get infected easily
many vets no longer crop unless it is a show dog
it hurts

Pro- I know of none :)
