Question
How can you clean out a bassethounds ears, and how can you tell if they (bassethound) have an ear disease?

Answer
You can use a mixture of vinegar and water in equal parts as an ear flush.  Fill the ear canals until they overflow and then massage the ear canals.  Allow this to stay in the ears for 5 minutes while the dog shakes the head.  Then wipe out the outside of the ear with a dry cotton ball. Repeat this for 10 days, then twice a week.  If your Bassett has an ear infection, it will be red and hot and there will be a discharge.  Your vet will be the best person to tell you based on an exam of your dog's ears.
