Question
I have a lovely male yellow tabby. He is about 6 years. This week he urinated on my couch twice. He is not that kind of cat...he always knows what to do...He has the distinction of being one of the few cats to have hip attachment surgery at the UNC.His hips/legs were held in place by muscles only. That was about 4 years ago and he has been just fine until now...I know this is not intended...what is your advice?

Answer
You should take him to the vet to have a urine sample analyzed as most likely he has a urinary tract infection or feline lower urinary tract disease and will need some medication.

Since he has had hip surgery, make sure he has plenty of litter boxes that are easily accessible.  You can also try Cat Attract litter to help draw him back to the box www.preciouscat.com

Good luck!
