Cimetidine for Dog

Question
Hi, to make a long story short my lab got under our house Saturday and on Wednesday started acting lethargic and would not eat.  We determined she had ate some rat poison that had been put under the house and rushed her to the vet Wednesday night.  After lab work, IV's and a Vitamin K shot she was sent home with Vitamin K pills and a liquid Cimetidine (3cc 3 times a day) to take.  She is doing much better now, she is getting her appetite back.  Should I continue giving her the Cimetidine, because she does not like it at all, but if needed I will force her to take it.    Thanks for your help.

Answer
Because every dog responds differently, this is a time to ask the veterinary clinic that actually was working with your dog.

It sounds as if there is no more need for the Cimetidine, but I do not feel comfortable making that decision. I would suggest a follow up blood test for any residual problems.

If you are interested in information on how to keep her healthy until 20 (or close to that), email me again and ask for holistic information.
