Cat UTI blockage

Question
My kitty was recently treated when he fully blocked - he had a catheter inserted and was there for almost a week on antibiotics, but I brought him home yesterday. His urine was almost all blood when I took him in but now has returned to normal color. Tonight I saw him go into the litter pan, strain slightly but nothing came out - I'm scared he may have blocked again! Is this possible after being hospitalized all week with a catheter and being flushed with fluids? Is it possible that he just had the urge to urinate from irritation of the catheter?

Answer
Unfortunately, it could be either one. They do strain a lot when they first come home from the burning. But many of them block again.
Make sure his water intake is huge-feed him lots of canned food to increase his water consumption.
If you are not seeing urine for sure by the morning you need to call the vet. As you know, you cannot let a blocked cat go long.

I hope that you do see urine before tomorrow, but if not then call the vet.
