Question

Shelby my 3 year old Chihuahua is 6 weeks along, but we have not felt or seen any movements. Is this normal? I took her to a vet, who also felt no movement. A blood pregnancy test was positive, the vet told me to watch her closely. Should I be worried? She is my baby and I couldn't live with myself if something happens to her. please respond.

Well at six weeks the puppies are still pretty small, especially in a small dog. If she were my dog I would have an xray done to see how many are in there and if they are just so packed that they can't move.

You might be planning for a Cesarean for this little dog however, considering her size and if her puppies are not viable. Did the vet listen to see if he could pick up any heartbeats? Another thing you can do is have an ultrasound done. That would pick up any movements.

Hopefully she is on some good puppy food to provide adequate nutrition for her now and when she is lactating.

I hope that her pups will be okay. Get her in for the ultrasound and please let me know how she is.
