cat white gum and loss of appetite

Question
Dear Jenifer

My cat is 1 yr old. I've taken him to our local vet. He has white gums and red gums at the back, his teeth are yellowish. He only eats small amount of food which include roo meat or canned food, also as recommended by my vet oral care biscuits, which he will not touch.
He cries all the time.
Any advise before I take him back to the vet, would be appreciated.

Answer
He needs to have some blood work done.  A Complete Blood Count (CBC) to check for anemia and infection, a chemistry screen to check organ function and a Feline Leukemia/Aids test.  If he has gingivitis, he will need a professional dental cleaning provided his blood tests are normal.  Stomatitis in cats is fairly common and can be very painful to the point where some cats need all of their teeth extracted to stop the inflammatory process.  I have had success with adding transfer factor to their diet.  My one friend had to give her cat antibiotics and steroid injection all the time for mouth problems, and now for one year since being on the Feline Transfer Factor Complete, Precious has not had a single dose of antibiotics or steroids.
