Question
My cat has an upper respiratory infection. He has had it since we picked him up at the shelter 10 days ago. He has been on antibiotics for 6 days (Clavamax). He is also getting subcutaneous fluids daily to lower his temperature. In addition, he is on an eye ointment because his eyes are runny. His nose is stuffy. He can't smell his food so he won't eat. He has not eaten for 4 days. What can I do to make him eat? Do you think he may have another illness besides the upper respiratory infection?

Answer
I am very sorry but I don't know very much about this subject. I would suggest maybe trying a food with strong odors like canned cat food or tuna to entice him to eat. If that works maybe mix it with dry food. I encourage you to take him to your vet so he can examine him. He need nourishment now more than ever if he is sick. Sorry I couldn't give you more help. Have a good night.
