My German Shepard

I have a 10+ year old female german shepard dog. Lately, she has been
walking around in the back yard, with a chew toy in her mouth, crying. I
cannot seem to get her to stop. She eats at her regular time, and goes back
to the same chew toy. I am really worried. Can you please help?

Sincere apologies for the delayed response.

Vocalizing is often a sign of agitation.  I have a few questions if I may to try to help interpret what is happening.  Have there been any changes to the household (new member, visitors, new pet, etc)?  Does she only cry like this when outside?  Does she cry in the back yard if the toy is not present?  Are there any changes outside (new neighbor dog, wildlife, new fence)?
