Question
I have a Dachshund that is nine weeks old and he is passing a bloody stool with diahrea. The stool is kind of jello like and bloody. The stool has a very strong odor.  He eats well and drinks water. I was told by the breeder that he only needs a dewormer is that correct.

Answer
Hello Belinda:  Well, he may need a wormer medication.  The bloody stool can also be from stress or a change of diet ( food change?).
Sometimes the gel and blood results because the intestines are working too fast.  Find out if the breeder has wormed him yet.  You don't want to worm them too close to the last dosage.

So, we are talking, stress, virus, or worms....
Sorry, I can't help without being able to see this little one.
You may want to make a visit to the vet if it continues.

Also, you can add some canned pumpkin to his diet.  1/8 of a cup per day of pure canned pumpkin.  ( adds good fiber)
