Question
My daughter's Chihuaua/mix puppy (about 8 weeks)old is eating her own feces when turned ouside.  She is all but house broke with very, very little inside problems. What can they do besides stand over her while she is relieving herself outdoors?Thank you.

Answer
You need to leash her to go to the bathroom and then immediately clean the stool up after she goes.  Give her a treat to eat instead of the stool.  When she goes toward the stool, yell NO to teach her that is not acceptable.  Also, her stool should be checked for intestinal parasites.  You can try adding FORBID to her food to make the stool bitter or booby-trap the stools with tabasco or something spicey.  Some people have success with adding digestive enzymes to the food on a daily basis as well.  Usually with this age, the puppies are mimicking the mom's behavior since she ate their stool to clean up for weeks after they were born.
