Question
My dog has been having a lot of trouble urinating and recently urine has been leaking out while he is sitting down or laying down. What can I do, I cant afford a vet?

Answer
You don't mention his age or if he is neutered but anytime a male dog is having these problems a trip to the vet is necessary. Male dogs, like men, have prostates and they can have an enlarged one that makes urinating difficult to the point where the bladder gets so full it just leaks. Then you run the risk of his bladder losing tone and leaking forever if the condition isn't corrected right away.

Another cause is bladder stones. They can fill up the bladder so full that again the urine just leaks out.

Another cause is hormones or even a lack of them. This is usually a problem in spayed females but it can affect males as well. This is urinary incontinence and it is the first most common problem.

Either way, your boy needs to see a doctor as soon as possible.
