Question
We have a Great Pyrenees with pneumonia.  Along with giving him the medications the vet gave us and keeping him as quiet as possible, what else can we do?  Would humidifiers help, would humidifiers with some sort of Mentholatum or something be better?

Answer
You can use a vaporizer....one product on the internet is called NZYMES OXY-DROPS and you could add that to the vaporizer.  I do not have any personal experience with it but it is reported to be very good for infection.  Colloidal Silver has been touted to act as a natural antibiotic...you can apply it topically, give it orally or even try it in the nebulizer.

In addition, make sure to feed an all natural diet to boost his body up.  You can also supplement him with Ester C at a dose of 5-10 mg per pound 3 X a day, B Complex Vitamins at dose of 1 mg per pound per day, Digestive Enzymes--double the labeled human adult dose, Probiotics such as Acidophilus or yogurt, Garlic one clove a day, Vitamin E at 1 unit per pound daily....

Targeting his immune system will also help his own body heal and also prevent future infections by giving him Transfer Factor.
