Stressed Cat?

Question
Hi Hilary
I have 3 cats, with the latest edition arriving about a week ago, she is about 20 years old. Since the new cat has arrived one of the other cats which is 3 years old has started to vomit maybe once or twice a day. I'm not sure if this is stress from the new arrival as he is still eating and drinking fine, and also playing with his original play mate. He seems like is normal self, although I have noticed that if the new arrival has been near him and hissed or stared at him he seems to tense up a bit.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
If this keeps going for much longer I will have to take him up to the vet.

Thank you for your time

Kind regards

Kylie

Answer
Hi Kylie!  Congrats on your new addition!  I would definately think that the vomiting is just because of stress, since he seems normal in every way.  Someone new has come into his home, and he may panic a bit about it.  I would definately give this about 2 weeks, as usually within this time, they will adjust.  If the vomiting kitty does stop eating or playing, I would take him to your veterinarian.  At this point, with no other symptoms, I would think it's safe to say this may be caused by stress.
Good luck and wishes for a peaceful home for you soon!
Hilary
