Question
Hi,
My cat has managed to bite and puncture his own lip. It looks like a complete clean wound. My cats teeth are very clean. What should i do as i can not afford a vet?

Answer
You will need to keep an eye on the puncture and keep it clean. Your cats teeth and mouth are full of millions of bacteria that you cannot see at all.

These are very opportunist buggers and get right into these holes and cause abscesses.

So watch for swelling in that area. Once it starts to form your cat is going to need antibiotics. Better that he get them now and head off the abscess to begin with.

Owning a pet is a responsibility and part of that responsibility is giving our companions proper medical care when needed.

Hopefully he won't get an abscess and it will just heal up.
