possible poisoning

Question
We've had to have our home treated for rats.  A week ago, the pest company put out some "chunks" of poison--no place a dog can normally reach.   He said to make sure that the rats had no chance to get at dog food becuase the Vitamin K in the dog food would render the poison useless on the rats.  I had to go under the house Sat. (yesterday) to check on things.  One of our dogs could possibly have gotten some of this.  She vomited twice during the night and once today.  Neither of the other dogs is sick and they were all in the same area and briefly came under the house with me.  This dog is a dalmation/Lab mix.  She has been spayed and has had her shots, all meds are current.  She turned a year old a couple of weeks ago, weighs about 70 pounds and is generally in excellent health.
What are the symptoms of poisoning and should I get her to the Emergency Clinic or wait it out?
Thank you for any enlightenment you can give.

Answer
Hi Chris!  I can completely understand your concern.  Rat poison has one simple form of evidence in a dog...that is green vomit.  If these are those little green rat poison squares, the vomit will be that color green with possibly some chunks in it.  I know that's pretty graphic, but it's a tell tale sign.  If your dog did get into the rat poisoning or you even think it's a possibility, I would get your dog to the ER vet immediately.  The veterinarian will immediately induce vomiting to get as much of the poison out and then give your dog activated charcoal to rid the body of toxins.  Rat poison is deadly...to be on the safe side, I would take your dog right in.
I hope this helps and PLEASE, if you have time, let me know how your baby is doing.
