Dog Eye Problem

Question
Hi, how are you?  One of my dogs seems to be having severe eye irritations.  The whites of both her eyes are very red, but only her right eye seems to be bothering her(squinting, and fully shutting that one eye, but will completely open her eye for a few minutes).  There seems to be no inflammation in either eye, nor any signs of infection (pus).  She consistently tries to scratch this eye, but it doesn't seem to tear up.  Only large amounts of tears are obtained at once, and not throughout the course of the day.  The only thing that seems to relieve her is a hot water compress.  What can this be and what can I do?

Answer
You can get her to the vet's before she loses sight in her eyes. She has some sort of infection in the both (possibly conjunctivitis) and she needs to see the vet right away.

The fact that the whites are red shows inflammation so I don't know how you can say there isn't any.
Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the conjunctiva, which is the whites of her eyes.

Our motto is that you never wait with eye problems. She needs a vet visit soon!
