Question
I noticed a pronounced swelling below the jaw in the neck area on my 16 week old kitten(outdoor cat). Swelling accompanied by small weeping puncture wound size of a pin head.Could this be a wasp sting or something more insideous? I have heard of a boring worm that often infests cats & rabbits. The swelling also accompanied by runny eye.I treated with boris acid (eye)and neosporin for the puncture. He has not slowed down much.Any ideas

Answer
Hi Bob!  I would definitely recommend a vet visit, as this sounds as though it may be an abcessed wound.  This will require some antibiotics/antibiotic ointment to cure.  Boring worms are not common in the area where I live, so I do not have very much experience with it.  I do know, however, that a boring worm shouldn't cause a runny eye, but an abcess would.
I wish I could be of more help!  Please let me know how that little one does!
