Question
I have two dogs that have Frontline applied every month.  We were 2 or 3 days late in applying it this month, and the same day we applied the Frontline we went on a hike.  My husband and I, and both dogs were covered in ticks (we believe they were deer ticks).  It appears that they have a bunch of them that have attached themselves to the dogs' stomachs and ears (where I can see since there isn't so much hair there).  They seem to be dead, but are they suppose to even attach when the dogs are treated with Frontline, and is there a treatment like the antibiotics I'm taking to take care of the potential threat of lime disease?

Answer

If you are concerned about Lyme disease, have your dog tested to see if he has been exposed to the disease.  There are labs that will test for the exposure to Lyme. Your veterinarian can facilitate having  the test done for you; results are usually back in two weeks.
