Min Pin skin rash

Question
I have a male 2 year old min pin. He recently has been scratching a lot. We brought him to the vet and they suspected allergies for which they gave him a weak steroid that I can give him on an as needed basis. However, we started noticing a red bumpy rash in his armpit. We took him back to the vet and he gave us an antibiotic to give him and told us to put a shirt on him so he can't itch the rash. This didn't help so we tried putting some Resinol (zinc oxide) on it. This cleared it up but it keeps coming back. Any idea what this could be?? Thank you!

Answer
This could be an allergy.  I would recommend that you leave the dog on steroids regularly for a minimum of 2 weeks rather than using them as needed.  Constant use will allow the skin time to heal.  Keep the area bathed and if there is an infection continue the antibiotics.
