Question
Hello, Thank you for your service. I have a 13 year old Russion Blue .. very hearty, no health problems through out life (male neautered and all shots.) Last 6 months have noticed reddish brown at inside corners of eyes , but does not seem to bother him but it is bothering me . I clean it up almost once a day is this normal for an older cat or is there a home treatment or do I just deal with it, thnx, dave

Answer
Hello!

It may be a sign of eye infection, or an allergic problem. Some eye drops may help, but since they are prescription drugs, I would advise that you check with your vet for a prescription. Other than that, it may be caused by an anatomic problem such as the eyelids kind of turning on the inside of the eye, and irritating the eye, thus causing the mucus.
