tremors in dogs

Question
WE have a 2 year old rescued wire fox terrier who frequently has leg tremors in his back legs while lying down.  Is this a sign of something serious?   He also constantly licks the air - unless I break the cycle by picking him up, playing a game, giving him a treat, etc.  Any suggestions for either situation would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
It sounds like this dog is having petite mal seizures. This is something that needs to be diagnosed by a veterinarian.

Petite mal seizures are small, isolated tremors or sometimes the dog freezes in place until they pass. Licking the air, legs that wobble, etc are all signs of this.
There are other nervous system disorders that this could be also so it is best to have a complete check up on this dog and have him evaluated.
