Question
Hi Hilary,

My friend at work sent me to this site. Thank You in advance for helping me in any way you can.

I have a 7 year old cat who is an angel. My 4 year old kitty (both girls) is a menace, but such a cutie too...LOL

Just yesteday (April 25th, 04) My older kitty "Tissy" was angry about something and was begging to leave the bedroom. I am renting a room almost 8 months now and she LOVES being in the bedroom with a little allowance to roam around. The younger cat poked holes in my roommate's leather couch so they aren't allowed to roam around. (The cats will be happier when my fiancee and I move somewhere else in Aug).

Tissy was so mad yesterday and she decided to jump on the bed while we were watching TV and she meowed oddily and PEED all over my bed. Then at 2:00 a.m. this morning she wailed to go out of the bedroom. I let her out for 3 hours. She came back in and immediately wanted to go out again. I checked around for anything that may have been different in the house, but I am so confused. She wanted me to let her out when I left this morning, but I cannot do that while I am at work. I fear I will have more presents left from Tissy when I get home today. Hopefully not!

Sincerely yours,

Mary T. Brooks (Simi Valley, CA)

Answer
Hi Mary!  Is Tissy spayed?  If not she could be showing symptoms of being in heat, as what you have described is very common for a cat in heat.
If she is spayed, I would definately have her checked by your veterinarian to be sure no urinary tract infection is present.
Please let me know how she does!
