Question
My dog was alone in the car for a few minutes. During that time she located and shredded a package of beef jerky. I am concerned because there may have been one of those packets that keeps food fresh that says "do not eat" in the package. I have no idea where she even came up with the package, but I could not find the little packet and I am concerned she ate it.

Answer
Usually those are full of silica, which is ground up glass that absorbs moisture. Other ones have ingredients in them that I don't know of. I would call the poison control center if I were you and ask them what they might have in them.

The toll-free number is 1-800 222-1222. I am not a vet and if you are really concerned then call a local vet's answering service and ask for some advice or an ER veterinary clinic. Either one can at least tell you whether or not you should induce vomiting or if it will just pass.
But call the poison control center first.
