Question
hi, I have a 14-5 year old kerry blue terrier who looks to be in good health , her problem is that twice in the 3 days she has a very large amount of blood in her mouth some of the blood contained small fleshy lumps . We can see no apparent wounds in her mouth and as she is a pretty agressive dog that does like to bite we are worried about taking her to the vets. Thanks for any replys to this problem

Answer
John,
Given your dogs age, I am concerned that the problem may be of concern. Despite her aggression, I am going to have to recommend that you have her examined by her regular veterinarian. If he finds her too hard to exam, than he may want to sedate her to take a closer look. The fact that when a dog displays blood, especially in as you mentioned, in large amounts; than they need to be seen, for fear of anemia, and other serious related conditions. I wish I could give you an exact diagnosis, but as the bleeding could be due to a vast array of medical conditions; I have to suggest you look to your own veterinarian. I wish her all the best. Please do feel free to get back to me with any additional questions or concerns.                     Jodi
