Question
My new yorkie dog is 4 yrs old. He was owned by an older lady who died.  I now have him and he doesn't seem to be urinating or having bowel movements. I've only had him for 1 day, but I left him inside the house and he didn't have an accident. He didn't go outside after being inside for 8 hours.  In fact, he hates it outside.  Do you think there would be something wrong with him, or is he just nervous?

Answer
Hi Tammy.  Congrats on your new baby!  He could just be nervous.  Coming to a new home after 4 years, is a very stressful task and he may just need a few days to adjust.  Is he eating/drinking?  I would definately suggest an initial vet visit to give him a clean bill of health.  For a small dog, this is a bit long to not have a bowel movement or to urinate, so regardless if this is caused by stress, a vet visit may be the best thing for him.
Please let me know how he does and give him some welcome home kisses for me!
