brown dog slobber

i have a 9 year old german sheperd when she eats afterwads she has nasty brown slobber for serveral hours

Answer
Many dog foods contain artificial and natural colorings.  These can "stain" the saliva for a time after eating.  Eating tends to stimulate saliva production so also you will find increased salivation (or slobber) during and for a while after eating.
