Question
QUESTION: I have had Molly my shitzu since she was 5 mo. old. She is now 8 yrs old. I realized she had allergies very early on, and at one point started feeding her boiled chicken, potatoes and carrots, and that is all she got for many years, except for treats she got fruit or other vegetables she grew to love. This last year i noticed many new homeopathic and more natural dog foods in the stores, and prescription dog foods etc., so i have been experimenting with them to see if any of them will work for her, as she is quite sick of the chicken, as any dog gets sick of the same thing all the time, and i am quite sick of making it for her.
Her MAJOR SYMPTOM is the itching and licking of course, but MOST IMPORTANTLY, SHE GETS THE WORST EAR INFECTIONS YOU EVER DID SEE. UCKY RED OOZING ITCHY EARS, JUST AWFUL!
Well, recently i found a couple of dry foods she doesn't itch hardly at all with and most (what the vet calls, "she is comfortably itchy, or tolerably itchy." She is not real fond of them, and has to get pretty hungry before she gives in and eats, but she eventually gets hungry enough, that she eats. One is Hills, prescription diet, her least favorite, the other is "Natural Balance" sweet potatoe & chicken....
MY QUESTION FOR YOU IS THIS: Will this vitamin you say helps with the itchy and allegies, do anything more for her? If so what and why????
I look forward to your information, anything to make her even more comfortably itchy or not itchy...
Thank you, Jenna

ANSWER: Activia yogurt for itchy dogs; NuVET for shih tzu itch; itchy shih tuz ;

Hi jenna, Yes, the NuVET should help a bunch for your gal!  Also, a good probiotic will help to balance out the yeast bacteria in her ears and skin.
The Hill's stuff is awful!  The ingredients are so poor and many dogs gain weight on the Hill's products.  Go with the Natural Balance rather than the hills.  Plus, there are other foods you can try for allergy dogs.

About the NuVET Plus - it will help to blast the allergens that are hitting her. I am sure she has some Enviornmental allergies besides the food allergies.  NuVET helps to re-build the immune system so she can fight the allergens.  Also, NuVET will help with healing and Reduces any inflammation and swelling.
Take the 60 day NuVET guaranteed trial and see.  This is very safe and all natural for your gal.
You can get powder or wafer forms of NuVET plus.  Most dogs love the wafers but picky kids like the powder mixed into the food.

Next - a good probiotic , give her 1/2 cup ( 8oz cup) of Activia Yogurt each day for 2 weeks.
This will help to balst the Yeast that hit her skin and ears....
Must be the Activia brand with the very Active cultures.

BEST wishes gals!

QUESTION: Sorry to bother again..but i looked for the Activia brand with "probiotics" and didn't find it. However, the Activia had active cultures:L.bulgaricus, S.thermophilus, and bifidobacterium....The DanActive Brand claimed to have a "probiotic"  called L.casei immunitas that the others don't have....SOOOOO, my question for you is: What is best for my gal? I am not trying to be CRAZED about this, but i also don't want to waste money and time on giving her something that isn't the right thing that really isn't going to help her. I ordered the NuVet vitamins, and am going to try her on the no grain Canidae dog food that i had to order on line. ANYTHING to give her relief and to help make life easier on me too. (ha ha) Thanks so much for your help! Jenna %26 Molly, still licking/itching

Hi Jenna and Molly ; Glad you ordered the NuVET supplement for your little girl.
NOW, the Activia is the best - it has probioitcs, that is what the ingredients are listed as:
Sorry - I did not explain it well enough..
Now, the DanActive brand is good, too.   I am partial to the Activia.

Keep me posted on her results.
So glad she is going on a Grain-free food, too!
