Feline Overgrooming and Asthma

Question
QUESTION: Hi There!
I just read a response you posted about NuVet feline formula for respiratory issues and am interested in learning more about it and other alternative treatments. We have two cats, Avary (2 and a half yrs) and Coogin (3 yrs).
Avary was the runt and had some underdevelopment/neglect due to litter competition and therefore has feline asthma and minor allergies. Steroid treatment has helped but I would rather find an alternative. We live in the rocky mountains at around 9,000 ft so that may be causing his symptoms.
Coogin is a very attached and neurotic personality. Lately he has been overgrooming and has licked one large bald spot on his belly along with spots on his hips, knees, ankles and under his forearms. He was tested for parasites at his annual checkup when there was only a small spot on his stomach and thinner spots on his ankles. The tests came back negative, and I would think that if it were ringworm or something either Avary or one of us humans would have caught it as they sleep in our bed and are constantly cuddling with us. We haven't changed his food, and although we moved in September we moved into a larger place with a deck so they can lay in the sun. Although I say he's neurotic he doesn't seem stressed. He's very affectionate, cuddly and playful, not standoffish or aggressive. The skin looks normal, no redness, scabs, or pussing. Because of this we were told to try Bitter Apple spray but besides giving you dirty looks after being sprayed, he just waits until it dries and looses its taste. Lately it seems like every time you look around he's licking, we try to distract him with toys but as soon as you look away he's at it again, I even wake up to it at night.
Besides making sure there isn't anything wrong physically or mentally it's just hard to see because he's such a beautifully sleek mini black panther otherwise.
Thank you so much for you time.

ANSWER: Hi Lauren, I would love to help you and the two cat kids!  Sounds like some supplements may help Avary to lessen or go off the steroids, down the road.
What are you feeding the two kids?

Get back to me on the food...

thanks

QUESTION: Their food is Diamond, Indoor Cat Formula, Hairball Control. It has chicken as the first ingredient, but in some of the other things I was reading yesterday they mentioned that salmon or turkey might be a better alternative as both are foods that a cat would eat without human intervention. What do you recommend?

Answer
Hi again - Ok - for Avary and Coogin would you change the food to a better brand????
I would love to see them on the Innova for cats or the Wellness for cats:
If you can't find them, let me know and I will suggest a few others.
Mix the Diamond with the new food for 10 days - to make the change over slow - ( we don't want any loose messy stools)

Next - for both boys - I would love to see them take the NuVET feline powder - 1/2 teaspoon 2 x per day - ( so - 1 full teaspoon, per cat per day)
I like to split it up in 2 servings...HIDE in some wet food or even low fat cottage cheese or yogurt.
NuVET runs 39.00 or 55.00 per bottle   ( 2-3 months of the product)
NuVET is Holistic and All Natural - VERY safe for you Avary and Coogin.
Call 1-800-474-7044 and tell them PET Nurse Marie is working with you.
USE order code 81098 for the 15% off auto-ship program.

The NuVET will help the RESPIRATORY problems and the over grooming licking.
NuVET helps to re-build a poor or weak immune system.
NuVET heals and protects.

As for the Respiratory and Avary:  The NuVET will sure re-build this poor little one's immune system .
Also - I would love to see you get some ALJ liquid/
ALJ is a capsule or liquid -  I hide the liquid in the cat food -
Give the child dosage on the bottle -  You can place in the water but SOME cats are smart and then won't drink the water...
This is all natural and safe for both cats or Just for Avary to take daily.

Ok, so a New Food ; NuVET; and ALJ liquid should be very helpful.
