Blue Heeler/ Soft, Pale, Frequent Stools ;

Marie, I have a 2 year old Blue/Red Heeler, Male, He is very active very loud most days and we love him dearly. I recently took him to a vet in our area as we live over 2 hours from any localities. He has always had frequent stools, lately I have noticed he seems to be loosing weight maybe 4-5lbs in the last month or so. He eats IAMS Lamb and Rice dog food. His stools have been way soft/Pale or very light brown and you can let him out to go 5-6 times a day.He also here lately has had abnormal amounts of gas and its horrible. I have tried cutting back on his food consumption recommended by the vet along with amodium type pills for him, with no success. Do you have any suggestions for us?

Hi Mandy, Sounds like some IBS ( irr bowel syndrome???)  - Try some home cooking for about 1 month - if it helps, continue long term:
Please buy some Innova EVO Reduced Fat dog food -  Use just 1/2 cup per day of this food- You can give it as a topper to the HOME-Cooking or as a snack...
NO more than 1/2 cup of the dry - grain free food per day.

1 cup cooked rice ( white)
3/4 cup non-fat cottage cheese or (low fat) -
3/4 cup steamed vegetables, cubed  ( No onions....)  ( green beans are fine ) and :
Cooked - sweet potato and broccoli are great choices - just a small amount....

Mix rice and cottage cheese in a medium sized dog dish. Add veggies.

Serve 2 cups of the above mix per day - for your size dog.
