Question
my chows head leans to the side and worried he is sick he is 10 years old

Answer
Hi Carmen,
Take your chow to a holistic veterinarian immediately.
You only gave me one symptom -head tilt. I have no idea what else is going on, but head tilt could be caused by several possibilities. It is sometimes caused by vestibular disease, something could be effecting his inner ear, and parts of nerves and brain that respond to balance. Vestibular disease could be from something as uncomplicated as mites, ear infection or more serious things like head trauma, or cancer, or encephalitis. Head tild could also be a sign of stroke.
This needs to be determined by your vet to  make sure it is not serious.
Other possibilities could be caused by toxic side effects of antibiotics or old dog hypothyroidism/
Sometimes in older dogs this head tilt is temporary and of unknown origin.
Again, you didnt write if there are other symptoms but i would go to a good holistic vet asap to  diagnose.
Good luck and best wishes to your little Chow...
