Cat Continuously Itching

Question
Greetings doctor!I have a female cat who is now 10 months old. Though we give her bath every week and brush her hair everyday(she has long hair), she continuously itches her neck. When I check her neck, I find no wound or anything.
I don't know what else more I should mention to you as I can't observe any other odd signs from her. But one thing I've noticed is when she scratches and I hold her leg to stop, she just stops.
What should be done? Thank you.

Answer
Greetings, Moshka!  I'm not actually a doctor, but have over 20 years experience in healing animals holistically, so I have a few suggestions for you. First of all, check your kitty's ears for any signs of dirt or infection. When a cat scratches the neck, they are often actually reaching for the ears. Secondly, are you wearing any type of collar on her or using any of the spot on the back flea products? If so, discontinue use immediately (especially the spot on the back stuff). The EPA is investigating the fact that in 1 year alone 44,000 animals have either died or had seizures from using these products and that's not counting the ones not reported or the ones that had skin reactions. Thirdly, what are you feeding her? I would highly recommend finding a food without wheat, corn, soy, dairy or beef; preferably one like Indigo Moon from Solid Gold, or perhaps a pre-prepared, frozen raw food diet such as Raw Health.  You will find that these foods also cut way down on shedding and litter box odor.

Since you are bathing her regularly, might I suggest using our product, Critter Oil as your shampoo. It helps prevent fleas, heal irritated skin and condition the coat. If you go to http://www.critteroil.com you can read all about the product, find out it's many many uses and directions and order a bottle as well.  Using it as well as the changes suggested above, you will probably be able to cut your baths down to once a month and just keep brushing her out daily.
