Question
Hi,
Our French bulldog Matteo is almost three.  He gets regular baths with either dermabenz or synergy labs vet formula oatmeal and tea tree oil.  he eats blue wilderness high protein grain free food chicken recipe.  We add lipiderm healthy skin and coat fish oil and bright eyes to his food.  he doesn't get treats .  I wash his bedding in ecos natural laundry detergent.  he frequently has hives that make him look bumpy like a toad .  he came to us with bumps on his head the breeder called puppy pimples he had a few as a puppy, now he has a lot.  .  He frequently has red bumps on his chest and groin area .  Matteo sheds like crazy if he gets in my lap I am covered with hair .  I should probably mention that he is a solid white Russian import.  right now he is taking a round of ketoconazole 200 mg because I am desperate and it worked when he was 9 mos old after trying everything else we could think of.  I've searched all around the Internet for answers and Im not having any luck :(   please help !

Answer
Smelly dogs; Itchy Bulldog; bulldog shedding ; French bulldog health;
Hi Ashley, GREAT info, that helps me ....  POOR little Matteo, white dogs have such trouble and the bulldie breeds have so many problems.  ( THEY are still my favorites)***
Let's make a few changes for this little one:

DROP the Lipiderm oil for now; Stop the 2 products you are using for baths; Let's use only 1/2 of his Blue Wilderness dog food and the other 1/2 will be fresh meat that you cook-up and add to his meals daily:

Here are 2 supplements to give this baby each day:
NuVET Plus  1 1/2 wafers per day long term - VERY safe / Natural / Helps to fight off the Allergens that are hitting this little Matteo.
NuVEt helps to resuced the rashes and skin's inflammation.  NuVET helps to heal and reduces shedding.  ( ordering link is below)  Not sold in stores...

Next, Please give PEARLS - this is Acidophilus Probiotic to give daily for about 90 to 120 days.
Give 1 per day of the PEARLS - you can buy this probiotic at GNC stores, Walmart, CVS, Target, or Walgreens.  This will fight off all the excessive Yeast this baby has.
Do this PEARLS dosage 1-2 x PER Year... HELPS to balance out the system
( not needed year round just a few times PER Year --only)

Meats,  Cook up 1 pound of lean ground lamb--- If you can't get the ground lamb then get ground turkey or chicken.  Cook in a skillet with 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1/8 teaspoon of pure garlic powder.
Give about 1/2 cup of this mixture per day ---( you can make it a topper to his dry kibble)
If you feed 2 meals per day do 1/4 cup in the am and 1/4 cup in the pm of this home-cooked mixture.
I would like to see him get less of the Kibble and more of the home-cooked meats.
(**** no liver or hearts/ organ meats....)

Green beans - canned green beans are fine/ just rinse off the salt water --- or buy Low salt added canned green beans.  Give 1/4 cup 1 to 2 x per day - add a Dash of olive oil.

Oil - give this baby 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil mixed into his morning meal .
Must be pure olive oil, only
( olive oil will help with hips, joints and the shedding)

Baths, Please only give 1 bath ever 12 days.  In between you can use unscented baby wipes ( the human kind) - the baby wipes can be used every day if you wish.
You can also use some baby corn starch powder ( found in the baby department)
Place some corn starch powder on your hand and run into his bottom and pee areas... It absorbs any smells and cleans, too.

For Baths, Ask the NuVET folks for the Hot Spot Tea Tree Shampoo / EXCELLENT -
Do this just 2 x per month - Very healing.

NuVET runs 20.00; 39.00 and 55.00
They give you a 60 day money back guarantee.

The bumps can be viral in nature.  Many times they just run it's course.  They can remain on the head and face for a year or less.  Sometimes it is the herpes virus on canines that forms some odd bumps that don't want to go away.
We can also talk about some other option /  All that I will offer you are Natural options.

Let's try the first few options that I have mentioned above.

Get back to me in 60 days and let me know how things are going.

Make sure you brush him daily with a soft tooth brush that gets down to the under coat.
A brush that is soft but wide spaces will help to get under the first few layers of coat.

Best wishes ....
I bet he is a cutie!
