Cats from India to U.S

Question
I have adopted two cats during my stay here in India, and want to take them back to America this year. I was wondering if it would be difficult? There is a lot of information on importing dogs but not much on cats, and the link on the USDA site is leading to a dead end. What would be the necessary paper work I would need? Also, would the cats have to be in quarantine in the U.S? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!!

Answer
There is NO quarantine in USA.  All you need for entry is: Health
cert issued within 10 days of travel and a valid rabies vac.
Highly recommend cats be current on all vacs.
Very easy entry into USA
If you can, bring the cats with you as excess baggage.  Much cheaper
and they would clear customs with you.
If you must ship them as cargo, new TSA rules state you MUST use
some form of known shipper; pet shipper, freight forwarder, etc
Will be MUCH more expensive.  Visit:  www.ipata.com   for list of
pet shippers in India
Hope this helps
