Question
We have a 2 year old Lab that weighs in at 90 pounds and has bad seperation anxiety.  We are moving from Virginia to Oregon.  What do we need in order to make a flight as little stress on the dog, or should we drive?

Answer
Hi Terry,
Believe ir or NOT, dogs will adapt to the flight better than u might be thinking.
Get a crate now most likely a size 5 and place toys, or its favorite treat inside and place him in the crate for starting 10 minute to half hour.  Pet and praise when u let him out.  Take him in the car while this training is going on.
He will learn to like it and not be as fearful as one might feel it will be.  I shred papers in my shredder and take along more till I get to airport then clean it out if it went or threw up I have extra to cleanup.  Have two food dishes attached also.
Check only to water the dog, not feed it.
Have a treat when it arrives in Or.  I have little pups I have flighted from CA to Fl and arrive with tails wagging and tongue kissing so happy to see a person.
Have your vet give a health certificate good for ten days and put down the degrees of high and low the dog can  handle also or airlines might not flight it.  Some hot months they will not at all, espcially July, August.  86 degrees is most high, that is hot so that is why I told u to check the give water only.  Make sure it has had plenty of water before also. It will do fine, mine always do and so will yours.  Some vets like to drug them, I will not let them or the Germans as they need to know where their head is with the noise, etc.

Good luck
